Today we spent the day barbecuing at Tomi and Hiro's beach house, our Okinawan family. I say "Okinawan family" because they have taken us in like family and take care of some other families and single airmen the same way. Anyways, it started out rainy, but ended up being a nice night for a barbecue (not too hot). There are usually plenty of meats cooked on the grill to eat and some interesting cuisine to try. Tonight, their friends from Hong Kong had brought over fermented duck egg; a "delicacy." I was not brave enough to try though!
Fermented duck egg with ginger...
Sparklers! .....
Fireworks from a festival in the distance...
Night time swimming...
Nicole was brave enough to try the duck egg.....
